Dr. Ujjwal Kumar De was born in West Bengal, India. He obtained his doctoral degree in Veterinary Medicine from ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh), India. Currently, he is a Senior Scientist (Veterinary Medicine) at his institute. He is associated with several institutional and externally funded research projects. He has published over 100 research papers in peer-reviewed, high-impact international and national journals. As a team member, he has also developed a hybrid pig variety for North India named “Landlly” and software on the Expert System for Dog Health and Dog Health Management Trainer (DHMT)- self-learning tools and IVRI-Vaccination Guide app, Online Veterinary Clinic App using Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) tools. He is actively associated with teaching his institute's undergraduate and postgraduate students. He guided seven Master’s and four doctoral students as a major advisor. He is related to several professional, scientific societies and participated in the International Conference on Animal and Dairy Sciences in Las Vegas, USA, as well as many national and international conferences in India. He is also a visiting scientist at the University of Minnesota, USA, for advanced training on managing and treating mastitis in commercial dairy herds. To his credit, he has several research awards, including the ISVM – Intas Young Scientist Award, DST-International Travel Support Grant, the Indian Herbs-Sri Ramlal Agrawal Memorial Award, and First Best Article Award of the Indian Dairy Association, besides several best paper presentation awards.
