Ioanna Petta is a post-doctoral scientist at Ghent University and the Flanders Institute for Biotechnology in Belgium. Her research is focused on intestinal mucosal immunology and host-microbiome interactions in colorectal cancer and infectious diseases. During her academic career, she has been awarded and supported by various funding bodies, including the European Cancer Research Association, the Belgian Cancer Research Association, the Research Foundation Flanders, and the Belgian Association against Cancer. She has authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals, including a first-author publication in the Nature Cancer journal, and she is actively involved in actions supporting science communication and informing the public on the advances in cancer treatments through social media.
