Biography

Bakhtawar Shalwani is a McMaster University PhD student pursuing her doctoral degree in Global Health. She has completed her Master of Science in Health Policy and Management from the Aga Khan University, Pakistan. She is currently working as a Research consultant in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Aga Khan University Hospital and as a research coordinator at McMaster University. Her research interests include maternal and child health, midwifery care, health systems, and primary care services. Bakhtawar has expertise in conducting qualitative research to understand the subjective experiences and root causes of the major public health issues in maternal and child health. She has published papers in international peer-reviewed journals on midwifery care, family planning, and maternal and childcare in Pakistan.
